Online Automotive Sales Training Pricing

A question that we get asked often is: "why do your competitors make it so hard to get pricing on their e-learning product?" We don't think that any car sales training companies are intentionally trying to make the shopping experience frustrating. There are a few factors in play here.

The first is that they may have an excellent product but their pricing model has a lot of variables. You can understand how this gets complex very quickly if pricing varies by the number of sales staff enrolled, number of dealership locations, management reporting options, content selection packages, and payment choices like monthly subscription or annual program fee. The fact is the more offerings they have and possible buying configurations, the more difficult giving you a price without a consultation becomes.

The second is that, just like you with your customers, they can do a better job of understanding your needs and selecting the best product if they can have that consultation. Pricing is not all that relevant until they find a good match between your needs and their product. From the sales manager or dealer principal perspective this may feel like avoiding the price question so they can get you into their sales process. That may be true but it’s probably for your own good!

The third may be that they fear that sharing a price for online sales training with a car dealer before they know the depth of the product will result in somebody falling off their chair at the investment. Some product offerings in the online space contain a huge library of "repurposed old training videos". The sheer weight of the library titles and required investment can be shocking.

It's not easy shopping for online training for your car salespeople. When we were researching competitor price points, we found it difficult with some, and nearly impossible with others to get pricing. We asked, what does a car dealer really want from an online sales training product? Is it the bells and whistles of complex management reporting by salesperson and course? Is it a huge library of content or content sliced and diced into a bazillion chapters? Or is it a really simple solution to get new people up to speed fast and moving up the production of experienced staff?

When we evaluated the competitive environment and quizzed dealers on what they like or don't like in the online sales training or e-learning products there were some common themes:

Simple is good. Showing people how to sell the right way with real in-dealership video scenarios is way better than just telling them. Hardly anyone is analytical enough or has the time for complex reporting - it just doesn't get used at a lot of dealerships. That drove our production of a simple to use, highly effective, self-contained sales training program with an easy to understand pricing model. Our pricing is right there under our product description and video preview.

With all this research, you are probably wondering which ones we liked best (aside from our own!) Here are our top two picks for online car sales training:

Joe Verde Group - Joe Verde has been around for an awful long time and is one of the industry's most respected authorities. We think Joe has appeared as a feature speaker at NADA more often than not!  He was one of the first into the e-learning space with JVTNtm. He has a great telephone sales team. Joe Verde's Virtual Training has a huge library of content and we're guessing the highest market share in the USA.

Cardone On-demand Sales Training VT - Grant Cardone has expanded to help sales professionals in all industries but started in the auto industry. He is a best-selling author and highly sought after keynote speaker. Grant's Information-Assisted Sellingtm is the philosophy behind his Cardone On-Demand Sales Training. Grant is regularly featured for his sales expertise in the United States on television networks like Fox Business, NBC, MSNBC.

Both Verde and Cardone offer very robust and comprehensive solutions housing a huge library of content. Both JVTNtm and Cardone on-demand Sales Trainingtm are good choices; they have gone far beyond getting new sales staff up to speed for selling cars or refreshing veterans on sales process best practices.
