Mark Keene, Training Consultant

Mark’s career in the automotive industry spans 14 years, with extensive investment in time and experience across both the wholesale and retail sides of the industry. Mark also has extensive experience in hospitality, spending 16 years in hotel management – based both in New Zealand and overseas – prior to joining the automotive industry.

Moving from hotel management to automotive sales with BMW New Zealand was a “leap of faith”, following a job interview with Automotivaters’ Director Dan Leboe. Dan’s words to the Managing Director at Team McMillan BMW (where the team were working at the time) were, “All green lights here, we need to hire Mark!” Completing his onboarding training with Automotivaters, Mark quickly found his way. His customer experience and a desire to provide exceptional value was of great benefit, and readily transferable to his new role in luxury brand vehicles. Although completely new to this market, within a couple of years Mark was the top BMW sales professional in New Zealand. This was a very proud moment for Mark – he had again proved in a new industry that he had what it took to become number one, and to do so quickly. Mark credits his success to his total dedication to the Automotivaters training/sales processes, and to his sheer hard work.

Mark later made the move to the corporate world, holding positions of Dealership Operations Manager at Nissan New Zealand, Product Manager MINI & BMW New Zealand, and Head of Sales Channel Development, Customer Services BMW Group New Zealand with responsibility for the nationwide dealership network, Customer Services, CRM and Training.

Mark’s is passionate about working alongside people who have a shared goal of investing in their strengths and developing their weaknesses. “Executive mentoring and coaching are where I feel the most potential is to be gained. Developing and coaching individuals and seeing them gain skills and build character is hugely satisfying - both for them and myself as a mentor. I find it especially rewarding to see people with whom I have had an influence on move on to greater things.” says Mark.
